All Hallows’ Read

Header Post.jpg

With Halloween right around the corner, I’m extremely excited to announce a new project that I’ve been working on with Kathy over at The Novelty of Life!

For several months, Kathy and I have been wracking our brains for a creative way to incorporate the holidays into our blogging – we wanted to see more festive posts, holiday-themed book recommendations, challenges, and read-a-thons, etc.  Noticing the relative lack of these holiday-related components, particularly in the book blogging community, we concocted a solution that quickly adopted the name “Festive Reads.”

She’s more gunpowder than girl—and the fate of the desert lies in her hands.

Mortals rule the desert nation of Miraji, but mystical beasts still roam the wild and barren wastes, and rumor has it that somewhere, djinni still practice their magic. But there’s nothing mystical or magical about Dustwalk, the dead-end town that Amani can’t wait to escape from.

Destined to wind up “wed or dead,” Amani’s counting on her sharpshooting skills to get her out of Dustwalk. When she meets Jin, a mysterious and devastatingly handsome foreigner, in a shooting contest, she figures he’s the perfect escape route. But in all her years spent dreaming of leaving home, she never imagined she’d gallop away on a mythical horse, fleeing the murderous Sultan’s army, with a fugitive who’s wanted for treason. And she’d never have predicted she’d fall in love with him… or that he’d help her unlock the powerful truth of who she really is.

Marching Season & Guest Posts

Hi guys!

Long time, no see. Marching band season has come to a conclusion, which was more than a little bittersweet considering this was my last season with my band. If any of our readers out there have ever partaken in the madhouse that is marching band, you understand why I vanished.

We had a fairly good season. By which I mean percussion (the love of my life) got 1st place in our division for every competition, and the band won grand champion 3 times and got 2nd place twice. So what’s next? For me, indoor percussion. Luckily for me, it is always on weekends, so I have time to review!

Olivia is very busy with adapting to her college life currently, so I’m gonna go ahead and try to post all the content by myself hehe. While I get this site up and running again, I will be open to accepting guest posts. Shoot me an email at to discuss if you are interested!

While I catch up on reading the first week or so will mainly be book related posts, and you will start seeing reviews around the second week.

Since I’ve been out of the loop for awhile, anyone want to send me any book recommendations? What are some rant-worthy, stay up till 3 am, attention-stealing books you have come across lately?

I missed you all and am happy to be back!

I’m in love with reading, and have been since I was able to hold a book. But when I’m not reading, I’m working hard towards my other passion: Music. I play in all ensembles my school offers, and some outside of that. I’m a junior in high school, and I aspire to be a performing musician one day.

I usually stay with YA, but I’ve been known to venture into some odd areas as well. I also sometimes read younger than my level because of my middle school sibling.
